The Little Boat, a log
This is a log, not a blog.
A blog gets written when you have something to say. A log gets written whether you do or not, because the sea does not care how you feel that day, and because a year later, the only proof that you crossed anything is the dull daily record of an ordinary Tuesday.
I am going to keep this one for at least thirty days. That is the challenge.
Some time ago I wrote a song called Little Boat, an English version inspired by the Russian song Little Raft by Yuri Loza.
I have been drifting in the open sea since 2011, and I hardly have a boat of my own. Before 2011 I was aboard a big ship, a kind of modern-day Titanic. Now I am alone. But whether it is my boat or someone else is towing me in, the log will be here.
Every entry follows the same form: five lines, location, weather, direction, obstacles, accomplishments, and then a few questions, asked plainly and answered plainly. No essays. No speeches. If a day gave me four sentences, you get four sentences.
You may take part and ask questions. I will consider answering in the normal queue, first asked, first answered.
Why thirty days? Because after a long break I have the chance to start over and launch my website, a trial for thirty days. Day one is August 19.
If you are eight and you came here after a fairy tale, you are welcome too. I will try to be entertaining, and never to write a sentence you cannot follow.
