Engagement Poem

July 15, 2025

(a special poem, I wrote originally for my former coworker Beliem, who purchased one of my first three published books).

In my dream I saw a fairy,

She was elegant and airy,

Ghostlike lady from above,

From the Kingdom of True Love!

She was whispering a prayer

And her face was pale and white,

And her clothes’ shimmering layers

Gleamed with sparkling pretty light.

She had told me I was chosen

To become a special guest

On the Royal Ball and yes, –

To meet the Fair Empress.

With the sway of her right hand,

From the magic fairland’s

Finest work inventories

Came my dress and accessories.

I was ready for the ball,

Looking like a China Doll,

And there we go and there we went,

Far away to Fairland.

All the royalties in row

Gave me curtsy royal bow,

Then the Royal Empress

Told me that she was impressed!

That I was fine and sweet and fair

Far above with no compare.

I was flattered to flash,

And sweet Prince had instant crash.

But the magic all had gone

With the rays of morning dawn,

I woke up, but I could swear

That my dream was true and fair. –

For one thing I didn’t say:

In the swirl of dancing sway,

My sweet Prince asked me, “Sweet Miss,

Will you be my sweet Wife, please?”

So in the morning, in my bed,

All alone and sleeping head,

I remembered he told,

“Take a ring of pure gold!”

And I knew, it was a true thing:

For I kept the golden ring!
